Let’s be the change we want to see in the world!

Otara recently met with Mrs. Kanchana Weerakoon, Founder and President of ECO V (Eco Friendly Volunteers), a dynamic network of over 1,000 volunteers in Sri Lanka who have dedicated themselves to environmental conservation.

Kanchana has been in the field of conservation for over 25 years and she certainly walks the talk and lives by the principles she so passionately promotes. For many years Kanchana’s home has been a Zero-Waste household and she doesn’t release any garbage to the outside world. She is also an advocate of organic gardening and in the last few years has established a community garden in her own neighborhood.

Find out more about how you too could reduce your household garbage and how to turn your kitchen waste into nutrient rich compost, which you can then use in your own home garden to produce chemical free, nutritious food that the whole family can enjoy. It’s a win win!

Become a Zero-Waste household.
